Designia.nl - Design process and elements
When I started my freelance career, back in 2007, I used my own name as a business name because that was the easiest and fastest way to start.
Not long after that and when the amount of projects grew, I had the idea of splitting the communication around my different design disciplines (illustration, web and UX/UI design, logo design) and online portfolios onto different URLs and webpages. This would allow possible clients to focus completely on their needs for a specific design discipline.
The creative concept was to make a virtual world, Designia with different nations, like Illustration Nation and Identity Nation.
Therefor the Designia logo needed to be a collection of elements. A collection of Nations. One obvious symbol for a nation (and world) would be a flag. A flag that showed the collection of Nations. Each Nation should have a distinct color. Stacking those colors would make a fine flag.
By changing the shape of a ‘d’ (Designia) a little and with a bit of ‘Imagi Nation' it would look like a fine flag pole with flag that showed the stacked colors.
